Hacienda Hideaway Bunk Room Reveal
Revealing the DIY bunk bedroom in the Hacienda Hideaway.

Christmas has come early because today I am revealing our last and FINAL makeover at the Hacienda Hideaway!
This evolution begins way back in 2021, when we walled off a corner of the main living area to create a fourth bedroom:

We were confined by two doorways and could not make the room any larger, but we were determined to make this footprint work to sleep four guests.

After much brainstorming, we landed on a custom double twin bunk bed arrangement, and Lucas got to work building.

I shared a reel + stories on my Instagram documenting the build, which was completed back in October.

DIY beamswere added along with lighting and furnishings, and how we have a cozy bunk room ready to welcome guests of all ages!

Custom bunk beds were not in the original plan, and even though it added several weeks to our renovation timeline, I am so glad we did it.

The door and trim color throughout the house was carried over to the beds—Sherwin Williams Natural Tan.

To address the low/off center window, I used the same window treatment trick from our Modern Mediterranean bedroom.

The bedding was a steal of a find—well composed kantha quiltsand matching shams for only $66 shipped (and currently on sale!). They are handmade in Jaipur, and I vividly remember walking through those quilt shops when we traveled through India six years ago.

I scored this striking, extra large vintage painting tapestryon sale for $60. We attached it to 1×2's at the top and bottom for a more finished look.

What do you think—would you sleep here?
